JQES is a candidate school* for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme and is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. Does the IB have its own set of standards?

No. We will still follow the Common Core and Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and will still take MCAS assessments. Teachers will collaborate to build engaging transdisciplinary units of study that integrate the standards into the following six themes: Who we are, Where we are in place and time, How we express ourselves, How the world works, How we organize ourselves, and Sharing the planet.

All Josiah Quincy students, regardless of program (Regular Education, SEI, Special Education, Advanced Work) will receive the same rigorous instruction and have the same learning opportunities and outcomes

Teachers will attend professional development within a network of IB teachers and collaborate with colleagues to plan units of study and use best practices to deliver content to all students

Members of our local community, with whom we will continue to build strong partnerships
